Harriet’s Cupboard

 In Blog

Harriet’s Cupboard is a program of Catholic Charities.  The purpose of this service is to establish a collection of hygiene items, paper products and cleaning supplies for people in need throughout our diocese.

Many people come to Catholic Charities for assistance in need of basic items that countless individuals often take for granted (soap, shampoo, toilet paper).  Therefore, all of Catholic Charities service agencies collect personal hygiene items, paper products and cleaning supplies throughout the year to help restore clients’ dignity and self-esteem.  Our Agency sites hope to alleviate some stress and make life a little more hopeful for clients in need by providing these needed resources.  These items bring clients one step closer to self-sufficiency and make them a little more optimistic about the future.

In the winter months, we try to stock Harriet’s Cupboard with items that will help the homeless, those without heat or shelter and any other individual that is cold.  We focus on the collection of hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and socks.  If you can help those who need it most during these (at times) brutally cold months, we would appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity.

The success of Harriet’s Cupboard depends on our generous donors.  We rely solely on donations to fill our cupboards.  We also look for sponsors each month.  Sponsors are asked to collect items to help fill Harriet’s Cupboard and then are featured on our website and social media venues.
